Abstract

This article provides a reflection on educational practice within the framework of the new paradigm promoted by the Nueva Escuela Mexicana (NEM) and the corresponding Study Plans and Curricula, which encourage sociocritical pedagogical methodologies aimed at the comprehensive development of students. Among these strategies are Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, the STEAM approach, and Service-Learning, all of which seek to connect curricular content with meaningful contexts for students, fostering critical reflection and responsible action. Within this framework, life-project-based learning is proposed as a contextual, situated, and reflective methodological approach that allows teachers to address students’ needs, interests, and challenges in a personalized and significant manner. This approach not only aims to transform students’ immediate perspectives but also prepares them to face the future with an integral vision, promoting socioemotional, ethical, moral, academic, and cognitive competencies. Furthermore, it encourages conscious decision-making, responsibility, and the development of an active social conscience. The implementation of these strategies aims to form critical, committed citizens capable of effectively contributing to society, thereby strengthening both individual development and collective contribution. The methodological proposal emphasizes the importance of situated, reflective, and transformative education, where learning goes beyond knowledge acquisition, integrating values, skills, and competencies that prepare students to face personal, academic, and social challenges ethically and consciously.
