The training of nursing leaders is essential to face the challenges of today’s healthcare environment. By acquiring leadership skills, nursing professionals can strengthen their ability to make effective decisions and manage resources efficiently. The formation of these new leaders should include a variety of competencies, among which critical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving are the most important. These skills enable the provision of care with both quality and compassion, while also optimizing organizational processes. The general objective of this study was to understand the importance of nursing leadership training and how it benefits the development of decision-making and management skills in the current healthcare context. This documented methodology is an investigative literature review of a descriptive type, conducted through a search of various websites, medical journals, and the Google Scholar database, focusing on Spanish-language publications from the last five years. Today, nursing requires relevant training that fosters the development of leadership competencies in its professionals, enabling them to become promoters of significant improvements in the quality of patient care.
