The growing dependence of telecommunication systems on a stable power supply represents a critical challenge in contexts where energy interruptions are frequent, such as Ecuador, a country that since 2023 has faced scheduled power cuts that directly affect the operational continuity of its data networks, users, and institutions, generating considerable economic, social, and technological consequences, a situation that demands viable, sustainable, and reproducible technical solutions that can be effectively integrated into existing infrastructure without compromising service quality or disproportionately increasing operational costs for telephone operators and internet providers, which is why this research evaluates the response time and data loss in telecommunication nodes when a photovoltaic energy backup system is integrated, using the Cisco Packet Tracer simulator as a modeling environment, configuring a network that interconnects the nodes of Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca through static and dynamic routing protocols, with monocrystalline solar panels, storage batteries, and IoT meters for power monitoring, obtaining as a result that the switching between the conventional power grid and the photovoltaic backup occurs in milliseconds, without packet loss or perceptible degradation of network performance, thereby validating the technical viability of this energy alternative to ensure telecommunications resilience in electrical contingency scenarios.
