Judicial administration in the 21st century: challenges and perspectives

This review article aimed to analyze the main challenges and explore the perspectives of judicial administration in the 21st century, in light of the existing literature. Its scope covered the historical evolution of justice, the current importance of efficient judicial administration, influencing factors, and technological, human, legal, and financial challenges, as well as solutions and future perspectives. The methodology employed was a narrative review of academic literature, integrating diverse sources to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the topic. Among the key findings, it was highlighted that judicial administration has faced significant challenges such as procedural delays, workload overload, resistance to technological change, and the digital divide. However, future perspectives appear promising due to technological innovation (digitalization, AI), data-driven strategic management, staff training, and public policies that promote modernization. The implications of this study are crucial for judicial policy and practice, reaffirming the pressing need for adaptation and innovation to ensure effective, transparent, and accessible justice in contemporary society.
